This course is designed as an introduction to the principles and practices of effective safety management for those new to a safety-related role or operations professional. Participants will gain an understanding in the following key subject areas: framework for safety management systems, supervisory soft skills for safety, regulatory requirements, industry-specific risks, roles and responsibilities. Participants will also walk away with basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements.

This workshop will help supervisors develop an ability to recognize safe behaviors and communicate insights to engage employees and build relationships, not simply instruct.

Area inspections may be standard procedures for supervisors, but how can inspections be leveraged to increase effectiveness? Science has taught us that by learning to analyze hazards as they interact with behaviors, safety leaders can turn routine inspections into opportunities for employee engagement. No, each attendee must have their own seat at a workstation with a camera, microphone and speakers.
An internet connection (broadband wired or wireless 3G and above), a desktop or laptop computer, speakers, a microphone and a webcam. You can use your laptop’s speakers, microphone and camera or you can choose to dial in on your phone for listening and speaking.
Any office, conference room or home office that’s quiet and allows for free conversation without interruptions. Each student’s microphone should be able to stay on without being muted or having background noise pushed into the meeting environment.

The OSHA 30-Hour course contains a broad set of topics that will be wider than necessary for most workplaces. The Metal Safety Workshop Series are tightly targeted to the metals industry. They also include soft skills for the supervisor to understand their role in identifying exposures and mitigating the risks to both the employee and the employer. Amerisafe Group offers the OSHA courses if the 30-Hour card is required by a customer.
If you completed the OSHA 30-Hour course within the last three years and have been using the knowledge gained with good retention, you do not need to take Fundamentals of Safety and can proceed to the first workshop, Safety Leadership.
Yes. The OSHA 10-Hour course is designed for front-line workers, not supervisors. It is too light in content to provide an adequate soft skills and hazard identification foundation.
